Interpretopia
Picture
Collaborating in a Google document creates a collective writing experience. To coincide with CIT 2014 we're initiating a collective writing experiment to try and capture the history of instructional technology and sign language interpreter training. Any professional sign language interpreter or interpreting student has interacted with instructional technology at some point in their career, to record and review sample interpreting pieces, to assessing one's work or that of a colleague or student. We each hold a piece of this history.  By using the Google Drive on a computer, or the Drive and related Docs and Spreadsheet apps,  we can collaborate and see each other writing in real time.

Sign up below to have the Google Drive folder "Interpretopia at CIT 2014" shared with you. Please find me during the CIT conference and I can share the folder with you on the spot. When the folder is shared with you, you can find it in the section of Google Drive marked "Incoming."
There are 4 files:
  1. Introduction
  2. Doc 1 Narratives- you can reply to prompts or write your own piece
  3. Doc 2 Mad Libs- fun fill-in-the-blank style writing prompts
  4. Timeline Spreadsheet - note year, type of technology and uses, among other things

You are welcome to write in any or all of them as well as make comments. Editing will be permitted for the month of November. As of December 1, 2014  sharing permissions will be set to comment only. You can edit the documents on a computer or mobile device.

You will need:
  • a Google account (this is the same as having a Gmail account)
  • smartphone and/or tablet with the Google Drive and Docs apps installed
  • get Drive for iPhone/iPad here
  • Helpful info for using Drive with iPhone/iPad
  • get Drive for Android here
  • the documents will appear in your Drive account under "Incoming" (previously "Shared with me").
